It’s officially summer and that means it’s officially wedding season! Are you getting married? Are you in the wedding party? Weddings come with a high stress level and pressure for things to go smoothly. Chances are a lot of your stress will be coming from your dress. You want to look your best by the time the wedding day comes around and it’s perfectly normal to feel that way!
But stress can be an evil thing. If you’re anything like us then you know too much stress can lead you to eating too much or just eating the wrong things. This is especially difficult when you’re stressing about such a big day in your life! Two weeks before your wedding is the time to start consciously (or even more consciously) thinking about what you’re putting in your body. If you do then you won’t find yourself bloated and gassy as you walk down the aisle. It’s also a great time to start a detox to flush out any impurities. Whatever you do, don’t starve yourself! It is possible to detox in a healthy way that will rid you of bloat and extra water weight while increasing your energy!
Here’s a few tips we share with our brides and their wedding parties…
- Stop eating junk food… seriously. Just throw it all out of your house so you’re not even tempted to give in.
- For the two weeks leading up to your wedding day don’t eat any of these bloat triggering foods: beans, artificial sweeteners, junk food (ahem… refer to the first tip), alcohol, any and all cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, and cabbage), salt, carbonated beverages, and dairy foods. We know it doesn’t sound like it leaves much left you’re allowed to eat, but you’ll be thankful you gave these up right before your big day.
- While you may already eat healthy, you may want to go the extra step and add naturally detoxing foods to your diet. These foods include watercress, lemons, kale, spinach, fresh fruit, beets, ginger, and green tea.
- Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate – and hydrate some more! Now is the time to stop throwing back shots and start chugging that water! It helps flush out toxins in your digestive system. Now is a great time to do a juicing cleanse or an infused water detox for an added bonus.
